Finding Fall pieces so you don’t have to

As a part of a new series, I’m going to begin sharing a selection of my favorite pre-loved, seasonal finds from Etsy, eBay, Poshmark, and so forth. If you’re anything like me, you love a one-of-a-kind piece and the more drapey, cozy styles that Fall calls for. Each vintage item you add to your wardrobe tells its own story and is often something that only belongs to you, which makes getting dressed feel a little more special. Here’s what I’ve been eyeing!

Letterman Sweaters

This is a perfectly-distressed, ambiguous-enough letter sweater that would look so insanely good with a straight-leg, black jean and some square-toe western boots that I honestly want to buy it myself. My main qualm with letter jackets is the specificity and not necessarily identifying with whatever state or school it’s from, and this is the perfect solution to that.

Coach Ergo Bag

The Ergo bag by Coach proves to be timeless— it’s got a lovely array of shapes and colors within the original line, and the quality is incredible: they’re perfectly broken in on the majority of listings I see. Shop them on eBay and Poshmark.

Carnelian Necklaces

I adore this carnelian necklace from LIÉ STUDIO and have been very happy to find some similar but vintage options on Etsy.

High Neck / Lady Jackets

I’m seeing this silhouette all over J. Crew, and while most of their options are feeling a bit more Jackie O., this vintage jacket mixes that proper, 1960s feel with something more western and wearable.

Riding Boots

I’ve been a fan of riding boots (and adjacent tall boots) forever, particularly since I was 15 and fully obsessed with Ralph Lauren’s outlet offerings circa 2011— the riding pants, blazers with suede patches, and plaid button-downs— but had nowhere to wear them besides my very midwest high school: I’m sure it was certainly a look! Shop lots more on Etsy.

Classic Cardigans

A 1960’s, handmade mohair sweater in flawless condition: say no more.

Long Shorts

I’m very much here for a long short/tall boot moment this Fall, and there are seemingly endless options for longer shorts in neutral colors on eBay.

Baggy SweatSHIRTS

Someone… please buy this amazing vintage Gap sweatshirt before I do 😩

Straight Leg Trousers

These are 1940’s sailor pants, newly garment-dyed in LA. Absolutely love the concept of this shop bringing new life to well-made vintage pieces!

Leather Jackets

The perfect leather blazer… another I might have to pick up, myself 🤨

Button-Down Sweaters

Love this 90s silk, linen, cotton blend Eddie Bauer sweater: perfect if you have sensitive skin and want to avoid a potentially-scratchy online sweater purchase.

Trench Coats

80s suede — so good.

Mini Skirts

I’d argue that the plaid mini skirt comes back in one form or another every fall— whether slightly more pleated or tailored, it’s a timeless staple.

By embracing vintage fashion, you can participate in the circular economy: giving new life to pre-loved garments and contributing to the reduction of textile waste. Thanks for reading!
