8 interesting sans-spirits drinks to try out

The allure of non-alcoholic beverages has transcended mere abstinence: gone are the days when ditching alcohol meant simply settling for a soda. The current realm of non-alcoholic drinks offers complex and riveting options—whether you’re opting for a month away from drinking, choosing to drink more rarely, or cutting alcohol out entirely, there’s a world of options worth exploring.

NON — SALTED RASPBERRY & CHAMOMILE, TOASTED CINNAMON & YUZU, STEWED CHERRY & COFFEE

NON secures the highest quality ingredients: the variety of the fruits they use may change over the seasons, but they are always chosen for top flavor and peak seasonality. They offer a couple of other flavor profiles in addition to those mentioned above, like Carmelized Pear & Kombu, and Lemon Marmalade & Hibiscus.

Ghia — Lime & Salt, Sumac & Chili, Ghia Ginger, Ghia Soda

It’s so difficult to choose a favorite—but if you haven’t tried these yet, I’d recommend starting with Lime & Salt! Ghia uses potent extracts of natural nervines: herbs known to soothe the mind, bringing the body back from burnout. They’ve spent countless hours mixing and remixing to get the right balance of taste and effect without unnecessary additives. You’ll feel the spark and taste the bite.

St Agrestis — Phony Negroni, Amaro Falso, Phony Mezcal Negroni

St Agrestis creates both alcoholic and non-alcoholic aperitifs, which makes a lot of sense when you taste their NA options: these feel like the truest renditions of the original drinks to me. The brand has searched the world in search of the best wild herbs, spices, roots, seeds, and citruses, ensuring that they only refine the highest quality organic ingredients into each bottle.

Recess — Margaritas, Palomas, Mules & Mojitos

I’m a big fan of Recess’s zero-proof Paloma: made with real ingredients, uplifting guayusa, balancing adaptogens, 5g of sugar, and 10mg of natural caffeine.

Kin Euphorics — Actual Sunshine, Kin Bloom, Lightwave & Kin Spritz

Reimagine your social—and solo rituals—with Kin’s bundle that includes all four of their functional beverages to elevate your every day, from dusk to dawn. Actual Sunshine tastes like a spritzy mimosa and is one of my favorite canned drinks in general.

De Soi — Golden Hour, Champignon Dreams, Purple Lune, Très Rosé

De Soi uses natural adaptogens in their apéritifs to mellow the mind and lift your spirit, putting the fun back in functional. Très Rosé has notes of tart raspberry and earthy rooibos, Golden Hour has notes of warm citrus and leafy herbs, Champignon Dreams has notes of sticky strawberry and bitter grapefruit, and Purple Lune has notes of blackberry nectar and vanilla oak.

AMASS — Riverine

While Riverine contains traditional gin botanicals like Juniper, Coriander, and Orris Root, it is not a gin proxy. Rather, it is a nuanced, sophisticated spirit in its own right. AMASS’s recommended drink includes 2 oz Riverine, a splash of your favorite tonic and a lemon wheel, for garnish.

Lyre’s — Amalfi Spritz, Gin & Tonic,

Lyre’s crafts their spirits to taste like the classics they pay homage to, and they source the finest natural essences, extracts, and distillates from the four corners of the globe. They carry a range of about a dozen non-alcoholic spirits and a few ready-to-go canned options.
